As a note, atheists and secularists can’t have it both ways.

Atheists speak against the Bible saying that it is not divinely inspired and therefore say to “pay no attention”.

If, in their opinion, it is a historic book, if that is all it is in their opinion, then it is “fair game” to be taught in the schools.

And as a historical note, there are more copies of the New Testament written closer to the events than any other ancient work.  Why wouldn’t you want to teach one of the more accurate ancient books?

Detractors  should drop the objective of forbidding the Bible from being taught from prejudice against it while at the same time they permit the teaching the Illiad, Odyssey, and Greek Mythology.

If they will teach some ancient literature then why not all?

The New Testament has more copies dated closer to when the events occurred than any other ancient work.  So in terms of historical and cultural value, it is more relevant and accurate than other works.

What’s the beef if they don’t consider it to be relevant today?

They can’t have it both ways … they can’t say it is irrelevant in an apologetics argument, say it is only a historical document and not divinely inspired,  yet refuse to teach it as ancient literature.  The fact that they single out the Bible shows by their “negative agreement” so to speak, that they know better and that it is the Word of God in truth.

I Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

II Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Acts 3:But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

They persecute Trump because he is effective and relevant, not because he is irrelevant.  They have been caught manufacturing lies against him.

They persecute the Bible because it is the Word of God, not because they really believe it has nothing to say.

What it does have to say is treat people right, don’t use them for purposes of lust, power, and profit and that message is a rub to those who have “other” objectives.  So they want to get rid of the Book that tells them to behave correctly in relation to other people and not put lust, power, and profit before people.
